Post Office

Within the village there are several community groups that provide support for local residents and at the heart of the village is the local Post Office.

The Post Office provides a wide variety of goods.  Newspapers, magazines, dairy goods, confectionary and an assortment of cakes from the bakery in Glastonbury.  Local produce from local farming groups is also readily available.  The Post Office is opposite the village green and regularly hosts a Drop in Cafe.  It is very supportive of all the village activities and promotes free of charge competition and fund raising activities.

Parish Magazine

The News and Views is one of the best Parish Magazines in the area.  Run by a small group of dedicated volunteers the magazine covers several Parishes.  Butleigh, Baltonsborough, West Pennard, West Bradley and Lottisham.

The magazine has several regular contributors that provide interesting stories and information.  It hosts details of all the parish church activities, has information on planning applications and recommendations, has a quiz page and a regular cookery page.

Local Primary Schools provide regular updates, there is a large gardening section and a fictional section providing an outlet for local authors short stories.

Rose & Portcullis Public House

Every village needs a local pub and Butleigh is no different.

The Rose and Portcullis can be  found on the edge of the village and you will be welcomed into a relaxed atmosphere in this charming pub with its flagstone floors, log-burners and open fire.

The R and P, as it is affectionally known by the locals, prides itself on its well-kept selection of real ales, guest lagers and variety of ciders. The ingredients used in our food are sourced locally, wherever possible, and the menu is constantly changing. It is very busy and it is recommended that you book in advance.
