Cole Manor 22nd February 2018
The roads were dry (hurrah!), the sun broke through (hurrah!) and DH re-joined us after far too long an absence (hurrah, hurrah!).  With a chilly Easterly forecast, but not yet evident, we set off for Cole Manor.  DH left us, as he said he would, after a few miles.  We particularly savoured the valley descent from Cary to our coffee stop.  The visibility was excellent, and the rolling hills looked fresh and lovely. We were treated to a glorious display of snowdrops in the Cole Manor gardens, and a break in the warm, before the wind helpfully pushed us home.

Langport 15th February 2018
Destination today was Langport going via Somerton, Knole (gingerly by BM), Longsutton, Muchelney, Huish( me only ) and stopped at the cafe on the main road.  All very good. We returned back to base the usual way via Pitney the Charltons and Keinton. Great to be cycling with you again though Sri Lankan weather is preferable. Lovely ride through familiar villages, first time out on road bike since October. Longest outing for some months – bit pooped this afternoon.

Wookey Hub 8th February 2018
We didn’t have the luxury of dry roads in Somerset as a slight drizzle turned into steady light rain as we made our way via Street Glastonbury Fenny Castle to Wookey Hub where we enjoyed the now customary welcome from the genial ‘barista’ who not only furnished us with hot drinks and tea-cakes but also reams of paper to scrub ourselves down. We lingered over coffee in the warm enjoying the conversation and by the time we reluctantly ventured outside the weather had improved and our return journey via Coxley and West Pennard was very pleasant.

Sweets 1st February 2018
It started out freezing on a slightly dodgy Cinnamon Lane and finished in sunny bliss having been entertained by the evergreen George at Sweets. It's been so long since WM BWd that he'd forgotten you're all such nice people. Thanks all for such a great morning

Chapel Cross 25th January 2018
The shower was lovely! The shower, that is, at home as opposed to the hail shower that hit us a mile from home. Was the extra 10 minutes we spent with Rose worth it? Yeeesss!  Otherwise a lovely ride in good weather (early on) in excellent company with great homemade teacakes at Chapel Cross tea rooms.

Langport 18th January 2018
Well at least on the outward leg the weather was kind to us as we made our way via Butleigh Wootton and Marshall’s Elm, up Ham Hill to Langport. Finding our usual coffee venue closed for refurbishment we tried the River Parret Cafe where we enjoyed excellent refreshments with cakes courtesy of RW in honour of his recent birthday... thanks. Our return journey via Pitney and Somerton was rather damp but the sun was trying its best when we got home.

Butleigh Wootton 11th January 2018
With frost and fog in evidence at the normal start time there was the usual shall we/shan't we uncertainty. Eventually 5 Wheelers (two on 4 wheels) turned up at the Butleigh Wootton pop-up café to sample its currant (sic) specialty of Eccles cakes. Delighted to have DH join us.

Castle Cary (The Place) 4th January 2018
The weather was fairly kind with the rain holding off and the sun struggling to emerge. It was good to get out but the WSW headwind was ferocious at around 30kph. Nevertheless enjoyable and good company; some of our legs seem to have survived the holiday period better than others, pity I didn’t get an ebike from Santa!
