Information about BATS
We are members of Mid Somerset Car Scheme Partnership, originally funded by Somerset County Council. We do not now receive any subsidy.
Who can book
Residents in Butleigh or Butleigh Wootton who are elderly, less able or have medical conditions and are without or unable to use their own transport, may use this scheme.
How to book
If you need a lift with the Butleigh Area Transport Scheme, please give 48 hours notice by phoning The BATS Co-
All fees should be paid to the driver before the journey, and she/he will issue you with a receipt.
Terms & Conditions
It is unreasonable to expect drivers to wait more than 45 minutes without prior agreement.
There will be no smoking allowed in the cars.
The BATS committee reserve the right to change any details in this leaflet without notice.

A driver’s private car insurance will cover all normal risk. In addition, the scheme covers extra public liability insurance for driving on car scheme business.

What journeys are covered?
Journeys for any medical appointment (please note Official Hospital Transport is free for certain illnesses and only when authorised by your Doctor)
Journeys to visit friends or relatives in hospital
Journeys to catch buses or trains
Shopping trips may also be possible
Journeys within the village (a minimum charge of £1.00 will be made for this service)

With effect from 1st April 2018 the following charges apply.

Castle Cary Station £10.00
Shepton Mallet Hospital £10.00
South Petherton Hospital £13.50

Musgrove Park Hospital £27.00
Bristol Airport £30.00
Bristol Hospitals £35.00
All other trips will be charged at 45p per mile
